Bob Scott is a nationally known speaker and an expert in the field of college athletics, the recruiting process, and athletic scholarships. He has spoken at conventions, meetings, college athletic camps and high schools nationwide. He delivers a very influential message to student-athletes, parents, coaches and counselors throughout the country. Bob's emphasis on academics makes his message unique and brings applause from educators and parents everywhere he has gone.
Dr. Scott authored the very first book of its kind (in 1992, and now in its fifth edition) designed to help prepare high school student-athletes and their parents for college athletics, the recruiting process, and for trying to obtain a college athletic scholarship. The book and program are for all student-athletes, male and female, who would like to continue with their athletic career at the college level. That includes Divisions I, II, III and the junior college levels. Students from the 9th through the 12th grade can benefit from this program and book.
Dr. Scott's program shows you what the National Clearinghouse is and how to register as well as why it's important to get registered early. He shows you what core courses are and what courses you need to take to meet the core course requirements. He dwells on the importance of academics and shows how good grades greatly enhance your athletic scholarship potential. One educator said, "Bob gets through to kids what educators and parents have been trying to impress upon them all along. That academics have a huge impact on the college recruiting process."
During the program Dr. Scott talks about the amount of time you will have to commit to as a college athlete. Also covered in the program and book is a step by step method you need to take in order to enhance your possibilities of getting that athletic scholarship. Bob is able to relate to families from personal experience what his family went through while his two sons were going through the recruiting process and how between the two boys they received fourteen different scholarships, grants, work study funds etc. during their college careers.
If you want to educate your student-athletes and their parents about college athletics and the recruiting process, schedule a "Special Seminar" at your high school. Sometimes a number of schools join together in one area or district, and have Bob speak at a "host school" while inviting the others in the area to attend. By sharing the expenses of the presentation the costs for each school can be kept very low.
Unlike some who offer these kinds of seminars, Bob doesn't charge excessive fees to present his seminars but rather just enough to cover his expenses. Usually this amounts to a guarantee of the sale of twenty books with any sales above that figure shared with the sponsoring organization. If this goal is not met initially the sponsoring organization still has any remaining books to sell at later dates in order to recoup their investment.
When he wrote the book his aim was to offer student-athletes an alternative to the expensive marketing and recruiting companies and not as a means to become wealthy from it. As you can see, this program and book are invaluable tools for the student athlete and his or her family to use during the high school years.
The book and The Seminars cover the following information:
Understanding The Recruiting Process
In addition Dr. Scott also offers seminars for Coaches and Counselors.
Relates Dr. Scott, "I have yet to find a college that teaches a course or even a seminar on athletic recruiting and as a result many coaches and counselors are in need of information on how to assist student-athletes and their parents in preparing for the recruiting process. They can get from this seminar the tools and guidelines that they can use to identify student-athletes needing this information and when to get the information to them. They will be informed about NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA eligibility requirements, recruiting rules and regulations, and techniques they can use to help promote their student-athletes to the college coaches while avoiding having to use recruiting services."
